Frequently asked questions
Q: What kind of swim lessons do you offer?
A: All kinds! Adults, kids, and babies of all skill levels are welcome, and we will tailor your lessons to meet your unique goals. Our most common format is individual lessons, but we also offer small-group lessons (up to 4 people) for kids at a similar skill level, such as siblings or friends.
Q: What ages do you teach?
A: Our swim lessons are offered from age one through adulthood. Babies can learn to swim before they can walk and talk!
Q. Do you recommend “floaties” for young kids?
A: No, we do not recommend floaties/swimmers/flotation aids for kids. Floaties position children vertically, which is counterproductive to learning to swim. They can also give kids a false sense of confidence in water, when in actuality they are not prepared to swim without flotation aids.
Q: Do parents need to be present for kids’ lessons?
A: No. In many cases, we have found that kids do better and cry less at swim lessons when their parent or nanny is not present! Please note that if your child is too young to go to the bathroom alone, we ask that a caretaker remain on the premises to assist with bathroom breaks.
Q. Do parents need to get in the water for baby swim lessons?
A: No, although a caretaker must be present for diaper changes and other needs.
Q: What should I wear for my lesson?
A: Depending on your pool regulations, you may be required to wear a swim cap. Goggles are optional, depending on your preference. We keep an extra pair of kids’ goggles on hand so your child can try them out. If you or your child gets cold very easily, a swim shirt or swimsuit is worth considering.
Q: How long are lessons?
A: We offer 30-minute and 1-hour lesson options.
Q: How many lessons do I need?
A: This depends on the student, individual goals, and the consistency of lessons. If you have a specific event you would like to work toward, let your instructor know in advance.
Q: My child is afraid of water. Can you help?
A: Yes! We can help people of all ages overcome a fear of water and swimming.
